Buying a 3rd gen 4runner This is my first post here and I've done some light research on some 3rd gen 4runners. I wanted to confirm how interchangeable are the parts between them, Namely engine, trans, transfer case, and rear drive shaft. Man it would be amazing to be able to buy a new Hilux in the US today. The third-gen Toyota 4Runner is a very reliable vehicle; however, the model is now upwards of 20 years old, and parts are starting to wear out. I have to be honest and say I like the exterior styling much better of the 3rd gen. 2003-2009 5th Gen.
